Entry and Exit Points in Nepal
Foreign travelers can enter and exit Nepal only through designated immigration checkpoints. All major immigration offices in Nepal are open 24 hours for international travelers. Entering or exiting from unauthorized points is considered a violation of Nepal’s Immigration Act.

  • Immigration Office, Kakarvitta, Jhapa (Eastern Nepal)
  • Immigration Office, Birganj, Parsa (Central Nepal)

  • Immigration Office, Belahia, Bhairahawa (Rupandehi, Western Nepal)
  • Immigration Office, Jamunaha, Nepalgunj (Banke, Mid-Western Nepal)
  • Immigration Office, Mohana, Dhangadhi (Far-Western Nepal)
  • Immigration Office, Gaddachauki, Mahendranagar (Far-Western Nepal)

Note: Immigration Office, Pokhara, is not an entry point but can process visa extensions.

Nepal Tourist Visa Fees (Multiple Entry)
Nepal offers multiple-entry tourist visas, allowing you to travel in and out of the country during your stay.

  • 15 Days Visa: USD 30
  • 30 Days Visa: USD 50
  • 90 Days Visa: USD 125

    All visa fees must be paid in USD or equivalent convertible currency.

    Tourist Visa Extension in Nepal

    • If you wish to stay longer, you can easily extend your Nepal tourist visa.
    • Minimum extension: 15 days – USD 45
    • Additional days: USD 3 per day
    • Late fine (if overstayed up to 150 days): USD 5 per day
    • Visa extensions can be done at the Immigration Office in Kathmandu or Pokhara.

    Gratis Visa (Free Visa for Nepal)

    • Nepal provides a free visa (Gratis Visa) for certain categories:
    • Children below 10 years (except US citizens)
    • SAARC citizens (except Afghanistan) for the first visit (up to 30 days in a visa year)
    • Non-Residential Nepalese (NRN) card holders
    • Chinese nationals

    Afghan citizens require prior approval from the Department of Immigration.
    Additionally, citizens of China, Brazil, Russia, and Thailand may not require an entry visa based on reciprocal agreements.

    Transit Visa in Nepal

    • Travelers passing through Nepal can obtain a Transit Visa:
    • Validity: 1 day
    • Fee: USD 5

    Requirement: Valid onward flight ticket via Tribhuvan International Airport

    Countries Not Eligible for Visa on Arrival

    Citizens of the following countries must obtain a visa before arriving in Nepal:

    • All visas issued on arrival are tourist visas.
    • For visa extension or category changes, contact the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu.
    • Non-tourist visas (if eligible) can be extended for up to one year, except for business visas.
